Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Forty Two Services ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you visit 42s.gauravgoyal.in (the "Site"), install or use our applications (including those distributed through Google Play), download, build, or contribute to open-source software we publish, or contact us about engaging our services. We respect your privacy and aim to collect only what we need to respond to you and run the business.
1. Who we are
Forty Two Services is an independent consulting practice founded by Gaurav Goyal. For any privacy-related question, write to 42s@gauravgoyal.in.
- Legal name: Forty Two Services
- GSTIN: 07BHIPG5796H1ZX
- Contact: 42s@gauravgoyal.in
2. Information we collect
We deliberately keep data collection minimal:
- Information you send us. If you email us or message us on LinkedIn, we receive whatever you choose to share. Typically your name, email address, employer, and the contents of your message.
- Server logs. Our web server records standard technical information for each request (IP address, user-agent string, requested URL, timestamp, response code). These logs are used to operate the Site, diagnose issues, and block abuse. They are retained for a short rolling window and are not used to build advertising or behavioural profiles.
- No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. The Site does not set cookies, run analytics scripts, or embed third-party trackers. If this changes, this policy will be updated and the Site will disclose any cookies it sets.
3. Applications (including Google Play apps)
We publish applications, including some distributed through the Google Play store (for example, NationCraft). The data practices below apply to those apps, and the same information is reflected in each app's Google Play "Data safety" disclosure, which is the authoritative per-app summary.
- No account required. Our apps do not require you to create an account with us or sign in.
- No personal data collected by us. Unless an app's in-product notice or Google Play "Data safety" section states otherwise, our apps do not collect personal data, do not contain advertising or third-party advertising SDKs, and do not transmit usage, analytics, or behavioural data to us or to third parties.
- On-device storage. Data the app creates while you use it (for example, game progress, settings) is stored locally on your device. You can remove it at any time by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app.
- Permissions. Apps only request Android permissions necessary for their stated function. The current set of permissions is shown in the app's Google Play listing before you install.
- Information collected by Google. When you install or use an app from Google Play, Google may collect technical information such as device identifiers, install/uninstall events, crash reports, and review activity under its own terms. That collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, not by us.
- Children. Our apps are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Where an app is rated for general audiences, we comply with Google Play's Families policy requirements applicable to that rating.
If a future app collects personal data, we will disclose this in that app's Google Play "Data safety" section and update this policy accordingly before the data is collected.
4. Open-source software
We publish source code for some projects (for example, Stick OS) on public hosts such as GitHub. The following applies to that software:
- No telemetry. Source code we publish does not include analytics or telemetry that reports to us. When you build and run our open-source software on your own hardware, we receive no usage data, no identifiers, and no personal information.
- Hosted on third-party platforms. When you interact with our repositories on GitHub (for example, by browsing code, filing an issue, opening a pull request, or starring a repository), GitHub processes that activity under GitHub's privacy statement. We do not receive any data from GitHub beyond what is publicly visible on the project page.
- Public contributions. If you contribute to a public repository, your GitHub username, profile information, and the content of your contribution are visible to anyone with access to that repository, and we may retain them as part of the project's history.
- No warranty. Open-source software is provided under its stated licence and without warranty. This privacy policy does not change those licence terms.
5. How we use information
We use the information described above only to:
- Respond to enquiries and discuss potential engagements;
- Deliver, invoice for, and support services that we agree to provide;
- Comply with legal, accounting, and tax obligations (including GST records);
- Keep the Site, our apps, and our published software available and secure.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing.
6. Service providers
The Site is self-hosted on infrastructure operated by us. Email is handled through standard email providers, and invoicing or accounting may involve third-party tools (for example, a payments processor or accounting software). Apps we publish are distributed through Google Play, and source code we publish is hosted on GitHub. These providers process information on their own terms; we choose providers we consider reasonable, but we do not control their internal practices.
7. International transfers
We are based in India. If you contact us or use our products from outside India, information you provide will be transferred to and processed in India. By doing so you understand that local laws there may differ from those of your country.
8. Retention
We keep correspondence and engagement records for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, and as long as required by applicable law (for example, India's tax and GST record-keeping rules). When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it. Data that our apps store locally on your device remains there until you remove it.
9. Your rights
Subject to applicable law (including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, where it applies), you may ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to restrict how we use it. To make a request, email 42s@gauravgoyal.in. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
10. Security
We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect information in our custody, including TLS for traffic to and from the Site and for any network connection initiated by our software. No internet service can be guaranteed perfectly secure; we will notify affected individuals and regulators of any breach to the extent required by law.
11. Children
The Site and our services are not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. App-specific age ratings and any additional requirements are shown on each app's store listing.
12. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site, and, where required, in the relevant app.
